Negrar di Valpolicella (Vr), March 22, 2022 - The Gp Palio del Recioto - Trofeo C&F Resinatura Blocchi is getting ready to face its big comeback on the international scene: after two years of waiting, next April 19th will be a real party on the roads of Valpolicella thanks to the work of the organizing staff of Valpolicella B.E.S.T. that in these days is putting the last details in place.

The history of the race of dreams speaks for itself: in Negrar di Valpolicella only great promises win, capable of making a difference on the most beautiful and suggestive climbs of the Palio del Recioto. Also in 2022 the route of the event taken care of by the men of President Alessandro Comin Chiaramonti will represent the meeting point for many fans of the two wheels and the theater on which they will be called to measure the strongest talents of world cycling.

THE 2022 TRACK - On April 19, the Palio del Recioto - Trofeo C&F Resinatura Blocchi will retrace in the first part of the race the circuit of 18.4 kilometers characterized by the traditional climbs of Colle Masua and Jago. Approximately 2.5 kilometers of uphill road for the first ascent, with a constant gradient that varies between 4 and 5%, 3 kilometers for the second that has some sections above 15% alternating with others much more pedalable.

After these first 100 kilometers, it will remain to deal with the stretch in line that measures just over 40 kilometers and will climb towards Torbe where you will turn left to take the wall of Via Tezol. A concrete tongue of just over 500 meters that allows you to climb the ridge and take the false floor that leads to Marano di Valpolicella and from here descend to Valgatara, crossing San Floriano, Pedemonte and Santa Maria to return to the municipality of Negrar, passing under the arrival gate in the same direction of the finish line. So will begin the last climb of the day that measures about 14 kilometers: in the first section with very gentle slopes and then, gradually, more and more challenging to lead the group of the best Mazzano, arrived in the heart of the town the track will turn sharply right on the road that climbs between the inaccessible peaks of Valpolicella with some sections that have a slope greater than 15%, passing through several small towns such as Saline, until you reach Fiamene.

At this point, we'll descend into the heart of Fane and we'll go back up to Prun where the triumphal march of the day's leaders will finally begin, separated from the final finish line only by a long descent. If the positions are still not well defined, all that remains is to sprint for success in the central Via Giuseppe Mazzini between the two wings of the crowd that always celebrate the big ones who have had the honor of inscribing their name in the golden roll of the Palio del Recioto.  

In total there will be 147.2 kilometers to be completed with a total elevation gain of 2,927 meters for a test that will certainly enhance the quality of the most promising talents.

"We've been waiting for two years to be able to propose this new route which, on the one hand, summarizes and retraces all the roads of the great tradition of the Palio del Recioto and, on the other hand, especially in the final kilometers, represents an absolute first," explained Alessandro Comin Chiaramonti, president of Valpolicella B.E.S.T. "We're now less than a month away from the start: we can't wait to welcome athletes and fans back to our roads for what will once again be an authentic day of celebration under the banner of two wheels.
