Dante Ronchi was more than the journalist whom the Palio del Recioto turned to in order to set up the presentation of the Grand Prix Palio del Recioto in the best possible way. Dante Ronchi was above all a friend. We miss his good-natured air, his mild disposition, those extraordinary human qualities. The Palio grew, consolidated together with Dante. And to a journalist of Ronchi's caliber it was fitting to pay a meaningful tribute. It was therefore thought to establish the Ronchi Award.
Last year the award went to Mario Sconcerti, the editor of "Corriere dello Sport," Dante's historic newspaper. Now it passes into the hands of one of the faces and voices that have written the history of Italian cycling. For 50 years Adriano De Zan has been narrating the exploits of cycling. His voice is unique, his style unmatched, his commentaries unforgettable. He has told us the exploits of the great champions of the pedal, kept us glued to the video for all these years thanks to his professionalism. A true master. And in the groove traced by Dante Ronchi the name of Adriano De Zan fits right in.
