NEGRAR, April 5
The eighth edition of the Gran Premio Recioto that has seen at the start well 120 amateurs of first and second category has been won with slight advantage by Vidotto from Udine, started with the help of his teammate Morutto, at about two kilometers from the goal. Vidotto emerged particularly in the final stretch, when the adversaries were preparing for the final sprint and therefore looking for the best positions.
It was a clear defeat of the Veronese riders because the first of them was classified only at the sixteenth place: Conati of the U.C Veronese. The others were forced to retire for punctures or mechanical accidents, but we have reported the impression that many, even in an almost winter day, were short of preparation. The selection was clear. Only fifty or so made it to the finish line.
Seganfredo from Vicenza was the first to come to the fore. Before Parona it had an advantage of 30" cancelled by the decisive reaction of the group. Near the climb of Masua, for the first Grand Prix of the mountain, Mazzer, Marchesin, Lonardi and a few others came to light. Lonardi, a Veronese who rides for Pasinflex of Milan, was the first to cross the summit followed by Marchesin and Mazzer. The last two lost ground, while Lonardi led with a 35" advantage over the main group.
The solitary escape of Lonardi, who was pushing a very large ratio, lasted almost until Torbe when his dream of glory ended. In fact, he was caught by almost the entire group that had been dragged by Bonacina, Breno, Morutto, Mazzer and Ongarato, who passed in order under the finish line banner. The long descent didn't provoke sensible changes and it was already foreseen the arrival in mass when at two kilometers Vidotto started and he cut the finishing line with a handful of seconds on Turchetti, Ongarato and the others.
The race was perfectly organized by the G.S. Valpolicella that also availed itself of the local committee headed by Ottorino Murari.
