Leone Pizzini, of the Pedale Scaligero, has conquered a brilliant affirmation winning with detachment the XIII Gran Premio Palio dd Recioto, disputed to Negrar to cure of the Polisportlva Valpolicella CSI.
The bearer of the Pedale Scaligero has undoubtedly fully deserved the primacy having always been among the most active protagonists. In fact, in the early laps he was already in the breakaway with Ferro, towards the middle of the race he completed ten of the fifty flat laps, in the company of the unfortunate Veronesi who was forced to retire by a puncture. Same fate touched also to Bedendo in the first turns.
After half of the race the runners were again in the group and once again Pizzini gave the go-ahead to what had to be the decisive action. On his wheel remained only the athlete of Garibaldina, Adriano Polinari.
In the meantime, of the 67 runners who had started, less than twenty remained in the race. The decimation was not caused by accidents or fatigue, but rather by the sudden atmospheric adversity that was unleashed on the runners. Water, cold and even snow were the main enemies of the race, forcing most of the runners to take shelter in the warm environments of Negrar.
Even in the four laps of Jago the situation among the remaining riders did not change. Pizzini, with Polinari on his wheel, marched to the command with over two minutes of advantage over the few survivors. In the last lap, Polinari gave up and Pizzini crossed the finish line with a clear margin over all.
