NEGRAR, April 16.
Giorgio Cordioli of the G.S.Bencini has won in sprint, regulating under the arrival banner the teammates Vicentini, Soave, Pizzini, the second Gran Premio Recioto Valpolicella, cycling race for amateurs called by the shopkeepers of Negrar and organized by the Polisportiva of the CSI of Verona.
The race that saw at the start 47 of the eighty competitors enrolled including Zandegù, Maino, Giorgio Cordioli, Vicentini, Sperandio and others, was very lively and interesting for the succession of several attempts to escape, the last of which led to the finish line four athletes of the G.S.Bencini, the undisputed rulers of this interesting Grand Prix that even in its second edition is inserted among the most interesting cycling events in the Veneto.
The start given at 13:45 was rather fast thanks to Carraro and Bettin (Ciclistica Padovani) and Seganfredo (Coin Mestre). The three of them took a slight advantage that was soon gaining consistency. A puncture near Affi removed the combative Bettin from the middle while the two were reached near Pesina by another twelve competitors. On the way back near Affi, during a brief slowdown, the group was shaken by a fall that involved Zandegù, forced to retire. Everything proceeded with regularity until Gargagnago, when Micheletti and De Gobbi launched an attack.
In the return towards Negrar the riders faced the climb that leads to S.Cristina through Torbe and Prun. The sprint finishes were won by Micheletti at Osteria Vecchia and Torbe over De Gobbi, while the one in Prun was the prerogative of De Gobbi over Micheletti. The descent to Marano took place in a reckless manner. Misfortune disqualified Micheletti who was later forced to retire due to a mechanical failure.
De Gobbi proceeded alone until S.Maria where he was joined by a quartet of Bencini composed of Vicentini, Cordioli, Soave and Pizzini. The five proceeded to the end of the second lap that included the climb of the Masua hill, when De Gobbi had to yield to the team game of the four Veronese.
The final was exciting: the sprint disputed between the two wings of the crowd was the prerogative of Cordioli who ruled in order Vicentini, Soave and Pizzini teammates.
