"The Trentino-born Francesco Moser (the latest in a long line of cyclists from the family headed by the professional Aldo) won the G.P. del Recioto, which is promoted annually by the Negrar Festivities Committee.

The victory, the first as an amateur achieved by Moser, who had already been the 1969 CSI Italian champion for the cadet category, was achieved in a strong manner and in the most demanding part of the route.

In fact, as soon as the road began to climb towards the towns of Torbe and Prun where the G.P. della Montagna was located, the Trentino rider gave a show of skill and power, decisively breaking away from his five breakaway companions and building up a regular lead, both uphill and on the subsequent descent and on the remaining flat stretch, so much so that he arrived at the finish line with a lead of over a minute.
